Lesotho Blog 2025, Day 12 - Lectures & Dinosaur Footprints

Hiiii everyone! Missing everyone back home! Today we got to go to Scott College of Nursing and Scott Hospital/Clinic. We were welcomed by the principal and staff. We got to sit for two informative presentations. The first one was on healthcare in Lesotho and the second talked about the nursing programs offered. The healthcare here is similar in the way it functions in terms of how care is triaged. Due to limited staff, resources, and access to medications there are a lot of challenges the nurses here in Lesotho face. There are 3 programs offered. Diploma in general nursing which takes 3 years, diploma in midwifery which takes 1 year, and a certificate in nursing assistant which take 1 year & 3 months. After the presentations we got to take a tour of the college and hospital. It was super cool to see the wards and a different perspective.

After we left Scotts, we had lunch at this super cute lodge that was right by the mountain we were going to hike to see the dinosaur footprints. The hike was super hard, and Rosenberg was not lying about the second half being completely straight up. Our legs were BURNING! The footprints were cool to see though, and the view was beautiful. The way down was much faster but… scarier. The plants and trees had it out for us. :// they were catching our hair and poking us and don’t even get us started on the rocks tripping us and being loose. But it was fun and a good experience overall! Once we made it to the bottom a few of us headed back while others were taking pictures, so Thabang offered to walk us back. Rosenberg asked  if he knew the way back and he was very confident so we followed as one would. We shouldn’t have. We got lost in the woods. And was on the opposite side of the creek we were supposed to be which I don’t know how that happened. Thabang kept saying “it’s okay, we lost but we know the way.” I think we have definitions of lost. BUT… we made it back and that’s all that matters!!

Until next time,
Kylah and Hannah
